I think the US and Russia may fight it out for bronze, at best. Finland and Slovakia could also have a good showing, but I agree, it'll be Canada-Sweden for the gold, unless some suspect seeding puts them on the same side of the medal round bracket. |

Slovakia? Hopefully you are getting long odds on that JJ. Handzus and international ice? I am afraid someone will think he is a horse past his prime and shoot him. |

I agree about Canada-Sweden. I hope not though with 6 of the Hawks involved. I still want the Hawk players coming home early to rest. |

The ineptitude in minutes 60-65 this year is baffling and worrisome. Don't care about the gimmick, but it'd be nice if they'd win a couple of these extra time games in OT. - Ogilthorpe2
I don't really get to worked up over the 4v4 portion of overtime either. Last I checked, playoff OT is 5v5 and the Hawks are just fine in that style of play. |

The Czech Republic.... Fear the Beard!!! - Artyukhin76
Led by 42 year old Petr (frank)ing Nedved. Their top line will have a combine age of over 120. |

Off topic, but the village of Antioch has built a nice outdoor rink downtown.
Trying to get some skaters together this weekend.. |

I really enjoy seeing the best in the world play against each other for sure, that said I don't care about Team Canada as much as the Canucks...I just can't force the emotion. Don't get me wrong, I'll cheer for the team and will care..but not nearly as much as I do for the Canucks. |

Respect your opinion, but the Olympics are as close to watching the NHL during the original 6 days as you'll ever see. For the top teams, every player is a star, no muckers, grinders or designated fighters on the roster, just guys with high level skill playing against each other, flying up and down the ice.
Seeing a few games in Calgary in '88 was a blast.
And I think this is the last round for the NHL at the Olympics. No one wants to go to South Korea in 4 years. Hockey will go the way of soccer and send the U20s to battle it out. |

I will enjoy watching the games but part of my fandom will feel strange cheering for guys I usually would be rooting against. |

Perfect example will be Ryan Kesler. As a Hawks fan, I might accidentally cheer for him. |

In my world the Olympics are nothing more than a 2 week interruption to my regularly scheduled programming. If I'm home and a hockey game happens to be on, I'll watch I suppose, but I won't plan my days around watching, or go out of my way to see anything live. I'm just hoping for a quick and healthy tournament for all Hawks involved. |

It seems like they don't know where to go on the ice - in any zone - when it's 4 on 4 - they overload area, leave areas unpopulated, always scrambling in the defensive zone, PP-like rigidity in the offensive zone. |

Well, Dustin Brown is on the team. He is the very definition of mucker and grinder. And Backes is as big a cheap shot artist as there is in the league, but i get your point. |

So, the WJC? Probably would be more U23 or something like that IMO. |

As long as nobody of import for the Hawks gets injured, doesn't really much matter to me. Go Slovenia! |
